The Criança Esperança Campaign is a project of Rede Globo in partnership with Unesco. All money raised by the campaign is deposited directly into that body that, since 2004, is responsible for selection, technical and financial monitoring of supported projects.
One of the projects supported is the Espaço Criança Esperança of Belo Horizonte, which has been working since July 2003, in the Serra neighborhood, a group of six villages. The community have 47 000 inhabitants and the project helps 1071 children and, among them, adolescents between 06 and 18 years. The Criança Esperança Space promotes social inclusion and critical consciousness through education. Moreover, it also has activities for youth and adults who wish to complete primary education with lessons in the afternoon and evening.
The activities performed are concentrated on four types activities: Sports, Education, Culture and Psychosocial Care. One of these courses is the computer course, which students have more access to current technological world. Like in the project of Rodrigo Baggio, (read in classroom), teachers have the objective of apply the drugs and violence questions indirectly, because they know that advertisements like: "Leave the drug trade" will not work and may cause problems with drug dealers. The main objective is innovation, showing students that they are capable of developing modern skills and that skills could help them to get a good job in the future.
